How do I get started
shopping and giving?
You must first complete the registration process. This enables
us to track your deductible contributions to the charities as a result
of your purchases and enables you to get your account status on-line
showing the purchases and the amount donated to your charities. Although you may shop on-line without a registration, you
will not obtain a tax benefit or rebate.. Start the new user registration
process by selecting the "New User" option from the
"Members" section along the left hand side of this page.Am I paying more for products to
shop and give at the Charitable Emporium?
No! You pay the same price whether you shop through the Charitable
Emporium™ shopping service or shop directly at the vendor web site. However,
shopping through the Charitable Emporium™ shopping service enables you to give to charity
and receive the benefits of a tax deduction.
What does it cost for a
non-profit organization to join the Charitable Emporium™ shopping
service?
Non-profit organizations, IRS 501(c)(3),
are eligible to join the Charitable Emporium™ shopping service. The process is
simple and it is FREE once the charity has its own web site. If
the charity does not have a web site, Charitable Emporium can build one
at cost to the charity. For additional information, click on the
"Charities" section on the menu along the left hand side of
this page or click here to complete the on-line
information request form.

decide not to make a donation?
There is no minimum threshold, any sum that you are entitled to will be
paid on the fifteenth (15th) day following the month when the
rebate is received from the vendor.
When
will the charity receive my donation?
The donations are disbursed to the charity on the 15th day of the month
following the month when the rebate is received from the vendor. Checks are not issued
for amounts less that $5.00. In the event the amount is less than
$5.00, the charity will continue to accumulate donations and a check will

Are my transactions secure?
Yes! All of the merchants on the Charitable Emporium™ shopping
service web site employ secure servers to process your orders and
protect your credit card information.
How much money is donated to my
charity?
The donation amount will vary from vendor to vendor and
sometimes product to product. You will note that next to each
vendor name in the Emporium, there is a note indicating the percent
donated to the charity. This amount can vary from 0.5% to
20%. In some cases, the amount donated is a fixed amount.
Can I check my account
status on-line?
Yes, you can get a complete report of your purchase and donation
activity simply by selecting the "Account Status" option from
the "Members" section along the left hand side of this
page. The system will display your activity including the merchant
name, the purchase total, the donation amount, the charity name, and the
date paid to the charity. Please note that you MUST first sign-in
before you can use this option.
Charitable Emporium.com has agreed with
the Charity to provide the Charity with the necessary information and/or
documentation to enable the Charity to comply with Internal Revenue Code
Section 170(f)(8) in the form required by sub-paragraph (B) of said
section.
What if a charity no longer
qualifies or ceases to exist as a 501(c)(3) organization, what will
happen to the rebate/donation I was entitled to?
Upon notification of loss of tax-exempt status, the donation will not be made and the rebate will be returned to the
shopper within thirty (30) days. What
if I have returned product to a vendor after my donation has been made
to a charity?
The donation will not be returned.
What happens if a shopper returns a product
to a vendor and the vendor returns to the shopper all of the purchase
price paid for the product.
(a) If the donation has not been made, it will not thereafter be
made, and there will be no taxable income to the shopper since the
shopper has received all of his or her money back.
(b) If the donation to the charity, or rebate to
the shopper, has been made, the donation will not be returned, nor will
the Charitable Emporium demand that the rebate be returned. In such
event the shopper will have ordinary income to the extent he or she has
received back (in the case of a rebate), or has been credited with a
donation, an amount equal to the excess of the rebate or donation which
exceeds the price paid for the product and subsequently returned by the
vendor.
